iHome Kitchen Timer + Speakers {giveaway}

Giveaway, Kitchen Gifts, Product Reviews | 266 comments

This contest is now closed. Congratulations, TobyD! #117

I love being creative in the kitchen, but I don’t like cleaning up the aftermath. Scratch that. I hate cleaning up the aftermath. Cleaning up as I go is best, but often I’m so rushed to get it all done before someone has a major meltdown. At those times the kitchen often looks like a tornado went through by the time I’ve cooked, photographed, and set the table for dinner.

I often listen to music while cleaning to help the time pass without it feeling so mundane. My current favorite is the Glee soundtrack because it’s so upbeat. The iHome iP39 Kitchen Timer and FM Alarm Clock Radio Speaker System is the perfect kitchen music station. I’ve tried other iPod docking stations before from various brands, and I definitely like iP39 best. It doesn’t take up a lot of counter space and it’s specifically made with the home cook in mind.

  • Fully functional iPhone/iPod while charging.
  • USB charging port – charge USB devices such as cell phones, etc.
  • Time recipes perfectly with two separate timers
  • Syncs clock time to current iPhone time settings.
  • Slide out dock with inserts – keeps dock clean when not in use, inserts fit iPhone and docking iPod models
  • Magnetic remote control
  • Extra-large backlit custom LCD display – great for seeing the clock and timer from across the room
  • Battery Backup – no worries if the power goes out!

I love that you can use your iPhone or iPod and charge at the same time. This is especially helpful for using Pandora for music because it’s such a battery drainer. Now that I’ve updated my phone with the new iOS4 software I can listen to music on Pandora (which previously you couldn’t multi-task with) and do something else at the same time too, like look up recipes for dinner using my favorite iPhone recipe apps and follow along as I cook.

The docking station acts as a great stand for the device keeping it upright and easy to see. Perfect for watching your favorite cooking shows online or cooking videos from places like Rouxbe Cooking School.

The remote control is perfect to have in the kitchen. Maybe it sounds lazy, but I don’t really work in the area of the kitchen where my iP39 is, so the remote is helpful to have nearby if I want to change a song or adjust the volume. If the phone rings, I can easily mute the music. And the remote is magnetic, so when it’s not in use you’ll know exactly where it is – attached to the side of the unit.

So…what do you think? Would you like one too?

Definitely the remote control! I listen to music when I'm cooking or on the treadmill in our house but always want to change the music.

Became a fan of iHome on Facebook. I already have a plain iHome speaker for my iPod too.

I like the extra-large backlit custom LCD display for the time and also that you can time two things at once.dlodden at frontiernet dot net

I like the magnetic remote control. What a great way to help me enjoy (and control) music from my iPod no matter where in the room I may be!

I like the timer and the charging port. What a great way to enjoy time in the kitchen. At my house, we love to listen to music and dance as we prepare meals together. P.J.M. marszalek@q.com

Oo, I need good speakers to play my ipod music for when I have dance practice. As a college student, we don't get nice dance studios with integrated speakers to work with. We have to dance in the school halls or outside and use our mp3 players. The ability to play good quality sound is the major draw for me.What's great also is that it has a kitchen timer, because my oven in college doesn't have a timer, and I always guesstimate my baking times cuz I forget when I put the dish in the oven. Thanks for the giveaway!
