Announcing: GrowCookEat

Spring is here and my garden is getting started. I had such a good experience last year with growing a backyard garden, not just in terms of a great yield for a first timer, but it was a great teaching tool for my kids and the whole family enjoyed working on it. It taught Logan, my now 5 year old, about different vegetables and herbs and what they look like and how some plants die in the winter (annuals) and some come back every year (perennials). I have been so anxious for it to warm up so we could get started again.

This year I want to share that experience with all of you. Not just through my posts, but through your experiences too. I am announcing a new weekly feature here on goodLife {eats} called GrowCookEat.

My plan is to do my usual gardening posts like last year, share recipes geared towards from “garden to table,” guest posts from readers and other bloggers participating (especially those who are seasoned gardeners and can share tips), and interviews or Q&A’s with horticulturalists about gardening and cooking in season. Today’s post is just the introduction, but each Friday I’ll have a new post to share with you, be it a recipe, a Q&A, or a guest post. And maybe even some surprise giveaways!

Here’s how to participate in GrowCookEat:

1. If you are so inclined to write a post about gardening on your own blog for that week’s feature, please mention www.goodlifeeats and GrowCookEat so that your readers know where they can learn more about gardening. This way we can all share and learn together. Then, come back here to add the link to your post to the SimplyLinked form below.

2. If you don’t have a blog, simply tell us about your garden in comments section of each post so we can all see what you’re up to.

3. Let’s stay on topic, this isn’t an invitation to spam everyone with your blog. If your post doesn’t somehow relate to gardening, it will be deleted. Thanks for understanding.

To kick off the first ever GrowCookEat post in what I hope will prove to be a fun and informative feature here I’ve got a fabulous giveaway for you from the great people at Burpee and Gayla Trail, the author of You Grow Girl: The Groundbreaking Guide to Gardening.

What will you win? One person will win a selection of seeds from Burpee (Carrot Kaleidoscope, Pea RSVPea, Lettuce Fordhook ® Favorites Mix, Tomato Cherries Jubilee, and Hot Pepper Piñata Mix) and a copy of You Grow Girl from Gayla Trail.

So tell me, are you planning on growing any vegetables this year?
I hope you’ll join me!
