New Balance Shoe and Headphone Giveaway
GIVEAWAY NOW CLOSED
I, like everyone else, have made fitness goals for 2012. What are New Year’s resolutions without a goal to exercise or more eat healthier? I definitely dropped the ball on exercising for 2011. Not to mention that with all the recipe testing, traveling, and sitting at the computer I do it is far too easy to spend most of my day in a sedentary fashion.
Why did I drop the ball in 2011? I think because I wasn’t specific in my goal. Just saying “exercise more” doesn’t really define what you’re going to do. Also, I never really voiced my goals to anyone. I kind of need to be accountable for the goals that I’m making otherwise they get lost and forgotten. And lastly, I wasn’t consistent. If it isn’t a consistent routine, it is so easy to push it aside when my “to-do” list is already feeling very full.
In 2012, I definitely want to be a lot more exercise minded. I’d like to exercise for 30 minutes at least 3 times a week. And even that isn’t really specific enough. I want my legs and rear end to be more toned. I’d like to work on having stronger abs. And be able to run for 20 minutes without feeling exhausted. There. I said it.
Exercising regularly makes me feel better: physically and emotionally. Even if it is something as simple as going for a fast, 30 minute walk.
That being said, I was badly in need of a new pair of athletic shoes. Can you believe that I haven’t bought a new pair in over NINE YEARS? A new pair of shoes is just what I needed to get excited about exercise again. Check out these beauties. Not only are they attractive, but they are incredibly comfortable too.

I love my CamelBak Stainless 25 oz. water bottle. I bought it last fall when I had the same goal for drinking more water. I know that if I drink 2 1/2 of the bottles in a day, usually drink around 3 though, I am getting plenty of water. I carry it with me all the time. I like to flavor my water with lemon, orange, grapefruit, or peppermint 100% pure essential oil because it makes drinking water more enjoyable & it is calorie-free!

I am due with my first in May so my fitness goals are much different than most. Until I give birth I want to walk/yoga/etc 3-5 times a week. After birth (when I am allowed) take a walk most days and resume playing soccer by the end of the year!

Saturday and sunday is difficult but I really want to get back on the hiking trails on the weekends. My additional goal is to drink more water. I seem to never be thirsty so I don’t drink anything during the day. I need to force the water

My fitness goals for the new year are:

Well that’s not fair! Why can’t we say “to exercise”? I already have an exercise routine that works great for me, however in the later half of 2011, my work schedule changed – leaving me with almost no time to perform my exercise routine. My goal actually is to find time, somehow, to exercise. But since I can’t say that, I’ll have to go with…..to make sure I take my vitamins everyday!
[Reply]
Katie replied: — January 10th, 2012 @ 6:34 PM
I didn’t mean you couldn’t say you wanted to exercise as your goal…I simply put that because some people won’t engage in a conversation when a giveaway is involved and their entire comment would consist of “exercise.” I think that what you said about finding the time in your new schedule for the exercise you were already doing is a great goal as is making a goal to take vitamins. Good luck on both!

I love my CamelBak Stainless 25 oz. water bottle. I bought it last fall when I had the same goal for drinking more water. I know that if I drink 2 1/2 of the bottles in a day, usually drink around 3 though, I am getting plenty of water. I carry it with me all the time. I like to flavor my water with lemon, orange, grapefruit, or peppermint 100% pure essential oil because it makes drinking the water more enjoyable & it is calorie-free!
My goal is to complete a 100 mile Century bike ride. I’d also really like to start lifting weights more. I’m really great at getting my cardio, but the weights aren’t as big as a draw for me.

Do leg exercises and pushups 4 times a week 5. Pray the weight gain slows down!

My goal is to work out more days than I days I don’t work out. I’m keeping track of the days I work out and don’t work out each month. That way, if I don’t make it to the gym one week I can still achieve my goal.
Along with that, my husband and I just started talking about the idea of linking our spending money with going to the gym, meaning we’ll “earn” our spending money by going to the gym. If that’s not motivation, I don’t know what is!

I just had a baby, so getting rid of the floppy middle would be awesome. I’ve learned something over the years though; if I don’t really love the exercise I’m doing, I don’t do it. Period. So I stick with walking and yoga because those are the only things I actually like to do. So this year, my goals are tricky with two little ones in the house, but whenever they’re both asleep or my husband is home, I either go for a walk or do some yoga. And I actually enjoy it which is something we should all have as a fitness goal on some level, right?

My exercise goals for this year are to do some form of exercise (whether Pilates, yoga, running, or even walking) at least 5x a week. I’ve spent too much time leading a fairly sedentary lifestyle due to always making excuses so with the new year, I think it’s time to break that habit.

My fitness goal is to lower my waist measurement (currently at 30 inches, eek!), build lean muscle, and and 10 push ups by the summer of 2012. Currently, I can’t lift my body weight. Even girl push ups are hard so I want to build up my muscle mass. I also want to be able to hold my planks longer than one minute via yoga. I find some positions to be hard on my upper body. Thanks for hosting this!

My resolution is “move more”
No, seriously, my job as a grad student consists entirely of sitting on my butt, and since I plan on finishing a significant number of papers, that means I’ll even less likely to move around. The idea is to move 10 minutes for every 50 minutes I sit on my butt.

Honestly? My goals are to exercise 5x a week, 15 minutes a day. I know that sounds lame compared to some of you powerhouses, but it’s realistic. Most days I can squeeze in 15 minutes of SOMETHING. And 5x a week gives me a couple days wiggle room. Thanks for this great giveaway!

My fitness goal includes the kiddos. I want to be outside every single day rain or shine for no less than 30 minutes, but my goal is to shoot for 60. In 2012, I want to get to the gym at least 2 days a week. During those sessions, I want to work on my stamina (jogging/swimming), tone my arms, and work on strengthening my abs. It seems like a meager goal but I know if I set it too high, I’ll fail miserably. I really slacked on my exercise routine at the end of 2011 and as a very busy grad student, I need to make sure I take the time to take care of my body and well-being. This year my fitness goal would be to tone and define my arms. I really want to work on my tricepts by doing more weight training….also make sure that I get in 5 good 60 minute workouts a week.
[Reply]
Have at least one meatless day each week. Exercise a minimum of 30 minutes each day. Increase my water intake.

I work quite a bit on my computer and at the sewng machine. It is my goal to get outside, walk to the gym (while the weather is still good, and get my self into better shape. I had open-heart several years ago and still haven’t worked my way to a healthy weight. Another goal is to stay alive and to be able to keep up with my 12 year old daughter. I have to live for her future. That is all we have.
[Reply]
My fitness goals are to run at least 6- 5ks and train for a half marthon. My off-running days will be my aerobic dvds. On the days my body is tired (which do come!.. 3 small kids and a wee one), I am going to at least do a light run on the stationary bike or take a walk. This is my year of no excuses.
Nutritionally, I will drink more water and eat like a biggest loser winner… Nutritionally sound and with no excuses!

My fitness goals for 2012 are to drink less soda and more water, to average 7,000 steps per day for the year, and to laugh more.

Oh man, I wasn’t finished with my fitness goals post and my little one thought the red button was cool! (click)
So, with my year of no excuses, I am going to get my rear in gear and work for a rear to be feared! Yes, I want a solid rock tush! A fluffy bottom is cute on my baby but I really don’t want to live behind the excuse of hereditary genes anymore.
Thanks for this challenge to express our goals! … Now I’m done.

My fitness goals of 2012…run minimum 3x/week, relaxation/stretching (yoga or pilates) 1+/week, and weights 2+/week. Also trying to eat a healthy diet: 5 fruits & veggies everyday, no eating after 8:30pm, and only eating when I’m hungry (not bored, for social reasons, or because of stress).

My goal this year is to run two marathons. One in April and the other in October. I also want to include more veggies in my diet and make sure I’m getting 8 glasses of water each day!

I want to take my kiddo for a 30+ minute walk/jog everyday. Also want to do other cardio/calisthenics 4-5x a week. Gotta have endurance to keep up with a 2 year old!

With a toddler at home and working full-time, I don’t get much time for exercise. My goal this year is to work up to at least 10 min every day – or at least 4 days a week.

2012 has me very busy with 2 little girls–4months and an almost 3 year old– my goal is to find some time just for myself. I joined a yoga studio in our neighborhood, where I could walk to once a week after work and my husband can stay with them. I also am trying to wear my infant in my Ergo carrier everywhere instead of pushing her in a stroller. It is a great workout especially when walking at a good pace for at least a mile.

I want to start walking more instead of just taking the bus. Considering how spread out some of my classes are, this would definitely make a significant difference.

I plan to ride a bike several times a week for my excercise routine.

I plan to walk 3-4 days a week to increase my heart rate & tone up.

My fitness goals are to continue our new lifestyle of eliminating all white sugar and artificial sweeteners. My wife and I started this just this year and so far, it is working out well. We have always worked out, but just managed to squeeze in time here and there.
Now, we make it a commitment and usually run in the evenings together. I would like to win these shoes for her and a little extra boost of confidence and inspiration to keep us on track as we continue our goal of making time for fitness, rather then just doing it haphazardly, as in the past.

My fitness goals are to watch what I eat and have one “cheat”day a week. To go between, zumba, physique 57 bar workout and walking. That’s the game plan.

I’ve just gotten back on track after an injury, so my goals for this year are to continue rehabilitating my injury and back to full speed.
I do this by faithfully following a walking/jogging regimen, coupled with weight-bearing exercises.
My long-term goal this year is to get back to competing in smaller races, and I’ve already signed up for my first 5k and plan to work my way up to a half-marathon!
