New Balance Shoe and Headphone Giveaway

exercise style, shoes | 597 comments

GIVEAWAY NOW CLOSED

I, like everyone else, have made fitness goals for 2012. What are New Year’s resolutions without a goal to exercise or more eat healthier? I definitely dropped the ball on exercising for 2011. Not to mention that with all the recipe testing, traveling, and sitting at the computer I do it is far too easy to spend most of my day in a sedentary fashion.

Why did I drop the ball in 2011? I think because I wasn’t specific in my goal. Just saying “exercise more” doesn’t really define what you’re going to do. Also, I never really voiced my goals to anyone. I kind of need to be accountable for the goals that I’m making otherwise they get lost and forgotten. And lastly, I wasn’t consistent. If it isn’t a consistent routine, it is so easy to push it aside when my “to-do” list is already feeling very full.

In 2012, I definitely want to be a lot more exercise minded. I’d like to exercise for 30 minutes at least 3 times a week. And even that isn’t really specific enough. I want my legs and rear end to be more toned. I’d like to work on having stronger abs. And be able to run for 20 minutes without feeling exhausted. There. I said it.

Exercising regularly makes me feel better: physically and emotionally. Even if it is something as simple as going for a fast, 30 minute walk.

That being said, I was badly in need of a new pair of athletic shoes. Can you believe that I haven’t bought a new pair in over NINE YEARS? A new pair of shoes is just what I needed to get excited about exercise again. Check out these beauties. Not only are they attractive, but they are incredibly comfortable too.

I love my CamelBak Stainless 25 oz. water bottle. I bought it last fall when I had the same goal for drinking more water. I know that if I drink 2 1/2 of the bottles in a day, usually drink around 3 though, I am getting plenty of water. I carry it with me all the time. I like to flavor my water with lemon, orange, grapefruit, or peppermint 100% pure essential oil because it makes drinking water more enjoyable & it is calorie-free!

Also, to get back into running with my dog. I moved this year, and I’m still trying to figure out a route I like that has a wide enough shoulder for safe running with the dog. Thanks! Well that’s not fair! Why can’t we say “to exercise”? I already have an exercise routine that works great for me, however in the later half of 2011, my work schedule changed – leaving me with almost no time to perform my exercise routine. My goal actually is to find time, somehow, to exercise. But since I can’t say that, I’ll have to go with…..to make sure I take my vitamins everyday!

    [Reply]

    • Katie replied: — January 10th, 2012 @ 6:34 PM

I didn’t mean you couldn’t say you wanted to exercise as your goal…I simply put that because some people won’t engage in a conversation when a giveaway is involved and their entire comment would consist of “exercise.” I think that what you said about finding the time in your new schedule for the exercise you were already doing is a great goal as is making a goal to take vitamins. Good luck on both!

    2. Walking my hills or at the gym six days each week for a minimum of 40 minutes.

My goal is to work out more days than I days I don’t work out. I’m keeping track of the days I work out and don’t work out each month. That way, if I don’t make it to the gym one week I can still achieve my goal.

Along with that, my husband and I just started talking about the idea of linking our spending money with going to the gym, meaning we’ll “earn” our spending money by going to the gym. If that’s not motivation, I don’t know what is!

I am 49 years old and beginning to get the loose skin under my upper arms…I call them my Grandma arms! I have begun to work out at a gym with my daughter and a trainer. My goal for 2012 is to firm up those Grandma arms and look tone and fit. Plus the bonus is that I get to spend really good time with my daughter!!

I just had a baby, so getting rid of the floppy middle would be awesome. I’ve learned something over the years though; if I don’t really love the exercise I’m doing, I don’t do it. Period. So I stick with walking and yoga because those are the only things I actually like to do. So this year, my goals are tricky with two little ones in the house, but whenever they’re both asleep or my husband is home, I either go for a walk or do some yoga. And I actually enjoy it which is something we should all have as a fitness goal on some level, right?

My goal this year is to train for and to successfully run the 10K portion of a team triathlon for the over 50 age bracket category this coming May. After that, power walk twenty miles per week, run fifteen miles per week, three hundred crunches four times per week, free weights four times per week, and juicing at least once per day. It’s all about aging as gracefully as I can manage, and that requires a healthy diet and regular exercise.

My ultimate goal this year is to stick to working out. I love running but a knee problem made me stop. So, now I have to find something that’s not that harsh on my knee.
With eating— where should I start, definitely commit myself to water. I’ve been pretty good this week so let’s hope I stick to it!!
Good luck to all with our new goals for this year :)

My fitness goal includes the kiddos. I want to be outside every single day rain or shine for no less than 30 minutes, but my goal is to shoot for 60. It might not be all in one shot as having a new baby puts a damper on that sometimes. My little man will be thrilled, though. I’ve been kind of slacking since the new baby arrived. This will benefit not only myself, but the whole family.

I’m thankful for an exercise partner that meets me once a week to run. Two years ago I ran my 2nd half marathon but life has gotten in the way – with a baby in the house and new work hours. Right now we walk every day, uphill and down, almost 3 miles. That being said, we should increase it to go up the harder hill every day and also not sit at my computer as much as I do when not doing housework.

In 2012, I want to get to the gym at least 2 days a week. During those sessions, I want to work on my stamina (jogging/swimming), tone my arms, and work on strengthening my abs. It seems like a meager goal but I know if I set it too high, I’ll fail miserably. I really slacked on my exercise routine at the end of 2011 and as a very busy grad student, I need to make sure I take the time to take care of my body and well-being. Also, I want to start drinking more water and incorporating more veggies into my diet! I think it will really support my fitness goals! Love your site!

My fitness goals are to take 30 minutes 3 times a week to do weights/strength training. I need to build muscle and keep my frame strong. Osteoporosis runs in the family and I’m trying not to shrink. :) I also want to get our dogs out on long walks (45 minutes or longer) 2 times a week in addition to their daily walks. They so enjoy long hikes each week!

In April 2011, I started exercising 5-6 days a week and followed through with that through the end of the year. I trained and participated in my first triathlon. This year, my goal is a longer triathlon and to incorporate more weight lifting – I get more than enough cardio with Zumba, running, swimming, biking, and kickboxing. I would like to lose about 40 pounds. I already run in minimal shoes, but I would really like to try out a new brand! I follow you on facebook already, don’t have a twitter account, and “stumbled upon” the portobello mushroom fajitas. I just bought soe portobellos yesterday and I’m ready to give it a try!

After talking to the doctor I have made my goals for the year to help improve my body and health. Yoga everyday is perfect and very relaxing. Bike riding at least 3-4 times a week 30 minutes to an hour and if I can not ride my bike I will run or jog for the same amount of time. I spread out my exercising I will do 10 or 15 minutes at a time if that is all I can do then later I will do the remanded.

I joined a yoga studio in our neighborhood, where I could walk to once a week after work and my husband can stay with them. I also am trying to wear my infant in my Ergo carrier everywhere instead of pushing her in a stroller. It is a great workout especially when walking at a good pace for at least a mile.

Now, we make it a commitment and usually run in the evenings together. I would like to win these shoes for her and a little extra boost of confidence and inspiration to keep us on track as we continue our goal of making time for fitness, rather then just doing it haphazardly, as in the past.

To run a half marathon in 2012! I’d love to try the Minimus shoes — I do have NB running shoes which I love!

I just signed up today for a half marathon in June! And I hope to lose another 20 pounds or so in the training process!

My exercise goals for 2012 are to work out at least 5 days of the week and to achieve a healthier mind-set by also eating more healthy too.
