My friend Janice Colson is a inspiration to me because she has fought and won breast cancer. So everyday I look up to her and know that I will win this battle. I have my ups and downs. Good and bad days, but all I do it remember 1 Corinthians 10:13 God will never give you more than you can handle, and if its more than you can, he will lift it up off your shoulders so you may stand under it in victory! Thanks so much for reading!
My grandfather. Throughout my life, he aided me with music, and quickly became my mentor. Though he battled until his last breath, he passed away from liver, bone, and prostate cancer in 2009. From that day, I have worked to advocate the importance of cancer research and good health. I started an American Cancer Society Youth Club at my high school and participated in a cancer research program at a local university. Because of all the suffering I see in those around me, I am pursuing to be a pediatric oncologist. To set a good example for my patients, I decided that it was time for me to lose weight. In the past three months, I have lost 40 pounds and am nearing the healthy weight for my height. The people around me inspire me to eat healthy and exercise in order to avoid health complications in the future.
