What do you give the mom who craves sweets for Mother’s Day? Surely not grocery store chocolates! I’ve got you covered with some fresh takes on the typical sweet gifts moms receive for The Sweet Tooth Mom. Don’t forget to enter the giveaway at the end, as well as The Coffee Lover and The Health Conscious Mom giveaways.
Customization is all the rage these days and you can do it with chocolate too! Head over to Chocri to build mom a personalized chocolate bar. Choose your bases (white, milk, or dark) and up to 5 different toppings ranging from fruits, spices, nuts, confections, decor, and grains. Right now my favorite is the white chocolate/apricot/pistachio/fleur de sel/gold flakes bar. YUM!

These dessert sauces from Sassy Sauces would be perfect over a bowl of ice cream or for fruit dipping. With delectable flavors like Bitterrsweet Chocolate, Peanut Butter Fudge, Milk Chocolate Caramel, Spicy Dark, and Rum Caramel, what Sweet Tooth Mom wouldn’t be thrilled? Sauces are all-natural and are gluten free.

Treat mom to a gift box of French Macarons – no these aren’t American coconut cookies, but rather a meringue-based confectionary made from a mixture of egg whites, almond flour, and both granulated and confectionery sugar. Macarons are composed of two almond meringue disks filled with a layer of buttercream, jam, or ganache filling.

Self-guided tour, “Montreal for Chocolate Lovers,” provides a great focus for exploring a city known for its joie de vivre. “Montreal for Chocolate Lovers” is a mouthwatering, self-paced itinerary that includes 12 fabulous Montreal chocolate stops, and lots of interesting sights along the way. With numbered stops and written directions, the guide gets travelers off the beaten track in Montreal, while making navigating easy. And at $14.95, it is outrageously affordable.

It’s time to return the favor for all those years Mom made you rice crispy treats as a child. At The Crispery you will find gourmet rice crispy treats called CrispyCakes that will amaze your mom! Chocolate dipped, coconut sprinkled, caramel filled…The Crispery has it all! May I recommend the Chocolate Caramel & Marshmallow?

Graeter’s Ice Cream is famous for its huge, rich, melt-in-your-mouth chocolate chips and creamy, thick texture. The140-year-old Graeter family’s recipe is still in use today. Graeter’s uses its famous French Pot process to produce their incredible ice cream two gallons at a time. Every pint is then packed by hand. My personal favorites: Black Raspberry Chip and Mint Chocolate Chip. I have been forever spoiled against grocery store ice cream.

What’s better than chocolate? How about an entire cookbook dedicated to Mom’s favorite sweet release? Chocoholic moms everywhere will rejoice when they receive Enlightened Chocolate. A collection of recipes that lighten up chocolate by trimming the fat and calories without compromising the texture or flavor, Enlightened Chocolate features 200 luscious recipes designed to be decadent and yet heart-healthy.

This Honey Creme Blackberry spread from Honey Ridge Farms is delicious! It would be perfect on a piece of hot buttered toast for Mom’s breakfast or even stirred into a cup of tea. Honey Ridge Farms never cooks their Honey crèmes so the natural goodness of the fruit and honey is retained in a smooth, spreadable blend. I’m dying to try the rest of the flavors!

Dewey’s Moravian Sugar Cake, a long-time best seller, makes for a scrumptious surprise breakfast in bed for Mom. Made from yeast-raised dough, it’s topped with a combination of cinnamon, pure butter and brown sugar, then baked until golden brown. If you’re a local, take advantage of their Pink Lemonade Cake offer.

From the classic milk or dark chocolate to the unique curry or honey, Delysia offers a wide assortment of flavored truffles. Their specialty is truffles made with wine: merlot, cabernet sauvignon, and port truffles, perfect for the chocolate loving mom who also likes . Delysia’s owner, Nicole Patel, hand makes all her truffles in the traditional Parisian style, each preservative-free and created with the utmost care and attention to detail.

Grand Prize (1 winner):

  • One copy of Enlightened Chocolate
  • Delysia Chocolates Mother’s Day Collection: three truffles each of Delysia’s floral and peacefully fragrant lavender truffle, intensely robust English breakfast tea truffle, and creamy white chocolate truffle.
  • Chartreuse Macaron Gift Box from Pix Patisserie
