Let’s get started!

If you’ve ever eaten in an Italian restaurant, you’ve likely seen bolognese sauce on the manu. It’s a classic Italian meat sauce that originated in the Bologna region of Italy (hence the name!).

RECONSTITUTE

1. Add the dried mushrooms and the boiling water to a bowl. Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and let stand for 5-10 minutes, or until mushrooms are softened.

SIMMER

2. Meanwhile, add the wine to a small skillet and bring to a simmer over medium heat. Then, decrease the heat to low and reduce the wine until it is about 2 ½ tablespoons. Set aside.

MINCE

3. Once the mushrooms have softened, remove the mushrooms from the liquid, reserving the liquid. Mince the mushrooms very finely and set aside.
