With both kids in school (Logan every day and Madeline twice a week) and a stricter routine during the week, I feel that it is particularly important we pay careful attention to incorporating enough family time. It’s easy to get caught up in routines and just go about living life without making the most of it.
For us making the most of it means having memorable family activities. Family night activities are great for that. I always like to have a special snack or dessert ready for those nights.

Family Nights can be simple or elaborate but what matters is that you’re spending quality time together away from the routines and to-do lists. Some of our favorite things to do include: game or movie nights at home, trips to the Zoo or Children’s Museum and as of lately – the Bowling Alley!
One of my favorite easy snacks is popcorn. I grew up on Family Movie Nights with Popcorn and Lemonade during weekends at Dad’s. Settled in on the big couch, we’d dive into a big purple bowl filled with air popped popcorn. Though we’re all grown now, we still enjoy a big bowl of popcorn when we’re visiting Dad.
It’s such a simple thing but of all the activities from my childhood, Popcorn and Movie Nights are definitely something I’ll always remember.

When I was growing up (and even now) it was common to have stove-popped popcorn (my mom still makes it best!) and watch a movie. Or if we’re feeling competitive… a game of cribbage! Such a great way to spend time with the fam.

Since its just my husband and I for the majority of the time now we make a nice homemade meal (gnocchi mac and cheese tonight) every Sunday night and then watch animation Sundays on Fox.

Ooo. What fun! Favourite snack is a tough one, depends on what mood I’m in but popcorn with my custom spicy seasoning has become a favourite. We love game nights! If only we could do them more often. Settlers of Catan and Munchkin are our favourites! And when we go back home to visit my granpapa it’s all about the cards; we are mean cinq cent and dame de pique players!

Every Saturday night, we have pizza, game and movie night. My husband started it, and I love it! We make homemade pizza, play two board or card games and watch a movie with our three boys. As a treat, we make ice cream in our ice cream maker once or twice a month or have popcorn during the movie. My husband is currently away for military training and I am trying to keep up the tradition because I think it’s a nice memory for the boys. Thanks for this giveaway!

our son is 16, so our family activities are a bit different. we watch The Mentalist, or CSI: Miami or Castle and eat popcorn. my favorite drink with corn is grape juice! we’re trying to savor the time with him, as it won’t be long before he’s off to college! those with young kids, don’t BLINK–the time passes like sand through your fingers and you can’t get it back.

Now that we are all grown up, but with no kids yet. Our favorite family night is when we have “family dinner” – when we invite our closest friends over for a Sunday style family dinner. It’s usually a 3 hr meal filled with delicious food, wine, catching up, and laughter.

My favorite family activity memory involves a local Baskin Robbins ice cream shop located within walking distance of my grandparents’ house. Whenever we were visiting them, we’d always take a nice evening walk up to get ice cream.
I still remember the time my grandmother was dumbfounded by my sister’s bubble gum ice cream and the time she introduced me to mint chocolate chip ice cream.

When my sisters and I were younger we would curl up on the couch under a big blanket and wait for my dad to finish making our popcorn. He made a big bowl for us to share with butter & old bay seasoning. My parents bowl was much spicier with hot sauce and hot peppers, my sisters and I would would always bet who could eat the most of their popcorn without having to run to get a glass of water. We would sit back and watch movies and laugh or cry. Great times!!

With two young kids we like to surprise them with popcorn and movie night every once in awhile. They both get super excited to have their own bowl of freshly popped popcorn but what they love most is helping prepare it! Love our little cooks. Favorite family night is a toss up between popcorn (air popped with salt for me, butter and salt for the fam) and a movie; or game night–right now we are on a Mexican Train kick.

Popcorn is one of our favorite snacks ever! As for an activity on family night it depends on the time of year, winter would be catch-phrase or maybe a movie. Summer has to be outside! Alaskan summers are so short you have to cram in as much fun as you can, so fishing, skipping rocks, prospecting, or just hanging out on the river bank….with some popcorn popped over the campfire

Growing up we had game night a few times a month and those nights hold such special memories for me. We ate popcorn, chips, or ice cream and played so many fun games. As an adult I’ve kep that tradition alive and really enjoy playing board games. I usually make homemade treats to serve including white chocolate covered popcorn – one of our favorites.

We have mostly popcorn. My husband has a huge bowl of popcorn every Sunday. After a long week-end without fail, he will pop this huge bowl of popcorn and go up to bed early and watch TV. I love carmel corn made from scratch; but only do that around the holidays.

I think my favorite family night snack is layered taco dip. Then, I have to end the night with some large Ghiradelli brownies! My kids are still small, so we enjoy watching short cartoons or just playing as a family on the floor with all the toys.
