Homemade Yogurt + Yogurt Maker Giveaway
I have heard time and time again how easy it is to make homemade yogurt. We are big yogurt eaters in this house and the more I thought about it the more I wanted to give it a try.
Yogurt has many purposes in this household of adoring fans, from an ingredient in baked goods, breakfast with granola and fruit, a popular addition to smoothies (related: Raspberry Orange Smoothies), to a healthy afternoon snack, and even using yogurt as a marinade for Tandoori Chicken – there isn’t a week that goes buy where I’m not adding another large container or two to our grocery cart.
I’m pleased to report that everyone else is absolutely right – yogurt is SUPER easy to make at home. Not that I doubted it, but it was great to give it a try myself and learn how simple the process is.
And it’s really nice because you can completely control the ingredients yourself. Organic, naturally sweetened, pure, delicious yogurt. Madeline is particularly partial to a generous drizzle of honey and fresh strawberries on a bowl of yogurt for her breakfast.
But you aren’t just controlling the ingredients. You have the ability to control the consistency of your yogurt. Personally, I like it on the thicker side and now I know just how to make it that way at home every time.
This Cuisipro Donvier® Electronic Yogurt Machine will make homemade yogurt such a breeze to make. All you need to do is heat the milk, add the yogurt culture, divide the mixture between the BPA-free plastic jars. Then you add the jars to the machine, set your timer (10 1/2 hours was perfect for me), place the lid on and plug it in. The machine does all the work for you.
Features of the Cuisipro Donvier® Electronic Yogurt Machine
- Make up to 6 cups of homemade yogurt per batch.
- Electric timer has digital LCD countdown display.
- Timer beeps a warning at 10 and 5 minutes before automated shut-off at end of cycle.
- Features settings in half-hour increments, from 4 to 14 hours – choose the perfect time to create homemade yogurt with your ideal consistency
- Create up to 8 different flavors of homemade yogurt at a time; use only the freshest ingredients.

Hello! I'm Katie Goodman, author of GoodLife Eats Etc. where I share what I find in my life. A mix of great recipes, family memories, adventures, good reads, and anything else that I love is what you will discover here.

I love homemade versions of store bought items. I make my own yeast bread, nut butters, crackers, and others so why not learn to make my own yoghurt?
I would be most excited to just try out a plain yoghurt recipe.
[Reply]
I’ve been making my own yogurt for a couple of years, using glass canning jars, a heating pad and an insulated cooler. I’d love to win this yogurt maker! I think the product might be more consistent than what I’ve been making. Thanks for the opportunity!
[Reply]
I have been dying to try making my own yogurt. This would make it just a little easier to get started.
[Reply]
I eat yogurt just about everyday and have been looking at buying a yogurt maker for a while. It would be icing on the cake if I won one.
[Reply]
I would like to make homemade yogurt as I am sure it would be healthier and cheaper.

I want to make my own yogurt because we eat so much yogurt in our house that it seems like we are always running out of it. I would much prefer making fresh batches than having to run to the store to get more.
[Reply]
We LOVE yogurt at our house! Its a weekly staple for us, but with me starting college almost full-time in just a few weeks, I’m trying to save money any way I can. I also love the fact that I can make one of our favorite snacks healthier.
[Reply]
I just started feeding my 9 month old son yogurt. I make all of his other foods, I’d LOVE to be able to make his yogurt too!

I’ve been wanting to try to make homemade yogurt for quite some time and while I’ve read how easy it is, and really appears to be, I’ve been a little “scared” to try it. I LOVE that this machine will do it for you without much intervention on my part and I like that you can make the different flavors at once. That is a huge bonus. Really great giveaway!!
[Reply]
I would love to make my own yogurt. I spend a lot of money on plain, organic yogurt every week. I eat it every day, and this would help me be more natural, self-sufficient, and frugal!

I eat yogurt every single day for breakfast and would LOVE to switch to a homemade version – I’m betting it will save some pennies in my wallet and some inches on my hips!
[Reply]
I have tried making my own yogurt before but it didn’t turn out well because I had a yogurt maker (took a quart jar size container) that I think ran too hot and it never turned out right, was curdled and awful every time. Had no temp control on it.
Everyone says it is so easy, but I am a bit shy of it now, I would love to win a quality yogurt maker.

We would love to make homemade yogurt because it fits in with our cooking whole foods from scratch philosophy and we have been wanting to try it for quite some time. I’ve been a little intimidated to try it, but from the description of the Donvier Yogurt Maker, it sounds like it would be an easy and fun process for our family! I have made my own yogurt using canning jars and then keeping them warm until they thicken. I then let it cool before straining through cheesecloth because I like the thicker Greek yogurt. Would this machine simplify the process? If so, I want one. Without using a machine, does anyone know how to regulate the temp / time warming etc to get really thick tart yogurt the first time without having to strain. Thanks

I’ve been toying with the idea of making my own yogurt without a yogurt maker. When I read the recipe for homemade yogurt I’m a little overwhelmed by all the steps and such you have to go through to make your own yogurt. I’m hoping a yogurt maker would take out some of the tedium of the process. I have a 1 yr that eats yogurt almost daily and would like to be able to pick and choose what I put in her yogurt. I like my yogurt thick but could not justify spending $4 on yogurt just to come home and strain for 1/4 of the original amount. If I won the yogurt maker, I would definitely start with making a plain yogurt and thicker for my daughter and I.

I’ve been making plain yogurt for quite awhile and before that my mom always made it as its a very common indian side dish. [Reply]
Oh, thanks for sharing! I eat yogurt at least once—but usually twice—a day. It gets expensive, especially buying organic or all-natural yogurt. I’ve thought about making my own, but it just seems so much easier to pick it up at the store. I really appreciate your post explaining that it IS just as easy to make at home. And I would love to play with flavors, consistency, and ingredients in my yogurt.

Anyone who knows me knows that I go gaga over things that are white and creamy! From mayo to sour cream to anything in between! Especially Yogurt!
Yogurt is special! It’s better for you than ice cream yet can satisfy that craving if necessary. For starters I didn’t even know that this Donvier existed which makes me excited to win it cause just think of all the FAAAABULOUS things I could make! Especially since I’m first and foremost a semi-starving NYC performer before I am a foodie/blogger this will definitely help with the grocery bill!

I have wanted to make yogurt since I started eating more Indian and Greek food. A friend of mine makes her own for her curry and the homemade yogurt tastes so much better, and I really like the idea of controlling what is in the yogurt since I’m trying to get away from over-processed and preservative-packed foods : ) I’m most excited about the yogurt-maker because I am nervous about consistancy and the yogurt maker would take out the guesswork!

My boyfriend and I have been wanting to try making our own yogurt for a really long time. The main reason I want to make my own is because I have celiac disease, and a lot of the yogurts out there have modified corn starch (which has gluten in it) which makes me ridiculously sick. Second, there is also the culinary adventure and the pride to say “I made this!” instead of being spoonfed processed food. It’s the same reason why I make my own butter!
