VIRTUAL HOLIDAY RECIPE EXCHANGE

Hosted by Katie and Jamie
Sponsored by Beanilla, Scharffen Berger, Kerrygold Butter, & more!

Additional Info Available Here: Holiday Recipe Exchange Posting & Prize Details

We all love sharing food and trying out new recipes from our friends and families. Through blogs, twitter, and facebook many of us have nurtured new found friendships and become part of a wonderful food blogging family.

We don’t often have the opportunity to eat, cook, and share with one another in real life. Instead, let us all come together in our virtual kitchens while we share some of our very best and favorite Holiday recipes.

How can YOU participate?

This is a BLOG CARNIVAL. We need YOU to participate for the event to be successful. We encourage you to participate in the swap itself. Each week, starting November 17th we will host a virtual recipe swap on our blogs. Each week, a new theme, a new sponsor, and a new set of fabulous PRIZES.

That’s right! I said PRIZES! With the Blog Carnival Link Up System we are using you’ll be able to vote for your favorite recipe that has been submitted to the exchange. At the end of the voting period, the winner will be the participant with the most votes. Keep in mind that you will ONLY be eligible for the prize IF YOU POST IN THE LINK UP. This is not a traditional blog giveaway.

To help us promote the event you can Tweet or Facebook one of the following messages:

Sample Tweet: Join @GoodLifeEats and @BakingAddiction for a Holiday Recipe Swap. See how you can participate (and WIN) here: http://bit.ly/9YCFgA Pls RT

pumpkin sugar cookie bars

We hope you’ll participate! To kick things off, Jamie and I have each made a recipe from one another’s blog to share with you. I’ve taken Jamie’s post on Sugar Cookie Bars and given them a few seasonal tweaks. I bring you: Pumpkin Spice Sugar Cookie Bars!

These were such a fun cookie bar to make and eat. The whole family loved them and are already asking when we can make them again. So much easier than rolling out sugar cookie cut out dough!

This event has closed. Check out all of the recipes that I shared during the Holiday Recipe Exchange below:

Holiday Recipe Exchange

Here are all of the recipes that I shared as a part of the Virtual Holiday Recipe Exchange in 2010 and 2011

Homemade Mac n Cheese

Chocolate Orange Bread

I took a simple cinnamon swirl bread recipe, loaded it up with orange zest, and substituted chocolate chunks for the cinnamon mixture. Served toasted with a dab of marmalade on it, this bread is magic on my taste buds!

Chocolate Gingerbread Cookies

For a fun, unique twist on gingerbread cut out cookies, try these Chocolate Gingerbread Cookies!

Chocolate Pecan Tart

Chocolate Pecan Tarts are a unique way to serve your pecan pie this Thanksgiving.

Herbed Stuffing with Bacon and Leeks

This year I tweaked my recipe just a tad and instead of Italian Sausage I am using Bacon and I’ve swapped out onion for leek to create this Leek and Bacon Stuffing.

Vanilla Fleur de Sel Caramel Hot Chocolate

I love a good mug of hot chocolate to warm up on a chilly day or when I need something a little sweet. Instead of using vanilla extract, I infused the milk with vanilla bean for the hot chocolate recipe. I also combined vanilla fleur de sel with melted caramel to drizzle in the hot chocolate.

Chicken Marsala with Sage and Thyme

I think a big crisp, green salad balances the boldness of the Chicken Marsala. I also like to serve it with a side of mashed potatoes. It feels so rich and comforting, yet sophisticated at the same time. And it’s perfect for a winter evening.

Fresh Herb and Citrus Turkey Brine

This Fresh Herb and Citrus Turkey Brine combines lots of fresh herbs with a subtle hint of citrus. Brining your turkey will tenderize the meat and infuse it with a TON of flavor for Turkey Day! This brine amount works for one 16 - 20 lb turkey.

Simplest Homemade Fudgy Brownies

Easy Homemade Fudgy Brownies are the perfect quick dessert to whip up at home. They only take a few minutes and totally satisfy your chocolate cravings. Just like the recipe promises, they're easy! Plus, I bet you have all the ingredients on hand.

Individual Chicken and Vegetable Pot Pies

We love these Individual Chicken and Vegetable Pot Pies on a cold, snowy day like today. They’re also great for using up leftover Holiday turkey.

Cucumber Feta Rolls

These Cucumber Feta Rolls are the perfect holiday appetizer!

Spinach Feta Stuffing Balls

Stuffing makes a great appetizer when you are able to eat it with a toothpick! Give these amazing apps a try, you'll love the bite of the feta cheese.

DIY Vanilla Sugar Scrub

Making Vanilla Sugar Scrub takes less than 10 minutes and is a gentle exfoliant perfect for dry hands and feet. Keep it for yourself, or gift it!

Pistachio Orange Crescent Cookies

Because I like taking favorite recipes and tweaking them with new flavors, I thought I’d do the same thing this year. I used a recipe I’ve made before for Swedish Crescent Cookies and added orange zest and pistachios to switch things up a bit.

Whipped Cranberry Butter

Whipped Cranberry Butter is a great way to use leftover cranberry sauce after Thanksgiving!

Bite-Sized Mini Cranberry Walnut Tarts

These Bite-Sized Mini Cranberry Walnut Tarts are the perfect little sweet treats to pop in your mouth and will help you use any leftover cranberry sauce that you may have.

Winter Minestrone with Swiss Chard and Sausage

Homemade Minestrone Soup has always been a soup favorite of mine. It is loaded with vegetables, yet feels hearty with the added pasta. In the summer I tend to lead towards adding vegetables like squash and red bell peppers, but this version of minestrone soup features vegetables seen more during winter since we’re quickly headed that way.

Orange Spice Pumpkin Muffins with Pecan Streusel

One of our new favorite treats for breakfast or an afternoon snack are these Orange Spice Pumpkin Muffins with Pecan Streusel. I love baking with fall spices. They’re so warm and cozy, especially on a cold and windy day like today, and make the house smell so nice.

Mascarpone Chive Mashed Potatoes

Mashed potatoes are mixed with creamy mascarpone cheese and plenty of fresh chives for a rich and fresh taste.

All-Purpose Shredded Crock-Pot Chicken

This recipe is great for using in recipes to soups, stews, and casseroles that call for shredded chicken.

Chicken Tetrazzini

I love this dish because it uses up whatever you have in the fridge. Turkey after Thanksgiving, rotisserie chicken, vegetables you've forgotten...

Dark Chocolate Orange Pudding

This silky smooth dark chocolate orange pudding is enhanced with three types of Chocolate: semi-sweet, unsweetened, and cocoa powder, proving that Chocolate Pudding isn't just for little kids.

How many per person do you want? I made a 9×13 for the 4 of us but it took us a few days to finish them.

I made these bars last week and unfortunatley I didn’t like them all that much. I guess they just weren’t what I expected – they had more of a dense cake texture than sugar cookie texture.

If they’re not cookie enough for you, I would suggest the original recipe (linked in the post) and just adding the spices not the pumpkin puree. Adding extra moisture to a recipe will always do that but personally we loved them and enjoyed the seasonal twist on the recipe.

Great idea on adding the spices, but not the pumpkin. I think I’ll try that! Thanks for the reply.
